Half-Life 3
So, the recent issues with Valve's project management software may have provided us with confirmation of Half-Life 3 (among other possible projects).

Just out of curiosity, how many games has valve made using the Half-Life 2 engine? Also, is it sad that the kids who originally played half-life 2 are now old enough to have kids of their own who are old enough to play Half-Life 3?

Hey, I played Half-Life 2, and I've not got any kids I'm aware of

Okay, I may have exaggerated a bit. The point is I was trying to say It's about damn time.
I had more typed out, but it just became a rant, and I didn't feel like subjecting you to it.

Well, the game came out in 2004. We're in 2013. It came out 9 years ago, I was 14 at the time. If HL3 comes out in 2015, I'll be 25.
Someone one or two years my elder could already have kids (although very young).
So while it was an hyperbole, time did fly.

I think it might be a little early. From what I can tell ( I just quickly scanned through it so forgive me if I'm wrong.) if anything this just confirms it's in development which really isn't much, yes we now know they might be working on it. Doesn't sound like much of a change to me. And even if this is 100% confirmation that it is in development it still could be years before we see anything.

Dunno, all of them? As far as I know they use Source engine for everything, with its legendary physics and whatnot. And don't forget the episodes, the last HL2 episode was released at the end of 2007. Six years is still a lot, but not that terrible compared to every game from Blizzard.jacky2734 wrote:Just out of curiosity, how many games has valve made using the Half-Life 2 engine? Well, I never said it confirmed when it's going to be released, only that is is indeed in development and by the looks of it isn't just "Episode 3" but a full-fledged Half-Life 3. Of that we still weren't sure before, because Valve refused to say anything. And it's the first piece of information about any future Half-Life in quite a while.Last wrote:

Re: Half-Life 3
Well they had stated at one point that they were waiting for talent and technology... I don't remember the full quote as it was given a couple years ago but it strongly hinted that the next half life would be half life three not half life 2 episode 3.
Even without the quote after all this time I just can't see episode three as something they were considering anymore.
Anyway my point was that I think it will still be a while before we see anything. Well unless valve wants to slap a trailer together to officially announce it's in development.

And I said it wasn't supposed to be implying anything about possible release time for HL3.Last wrote:Anyway my point was that I think it will still be a while before we see anything. Well unless valve wants to slap a trailer together to officially announce it's in development.
We'll see if anything is revealed at GamesCom in August.

We probably won't see any news until they're ready to tell us. We'll probably at most get a couple of months warning.Formis_God wrote:And I said it wasn't supposed to be implying anything about possible release time for HL3.Last wrote:Anyway my point was that I think it will still be a while before we see anything.
