I forgot to mention that Europe is now allied to the North American Union (USA, Canada, Mexico).

Forgot to mention something : the Eurasian Union is the union of the Russian Federation, Belarus, and the Central Asian countries of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and one or two others which names I don't remember right now. Basically, it's the territories covered by the Soviet Union minus Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and the other eastern european countries which are part of the European Union.

It's still a lot of land. Crazy

It no longer exist in practice. There's still a mechanism of "spheres" which influences who is going to accept which diplomatic propositions, but it's a leftover from the original game.

At the start of the game, Europe only ally is Turkey. Good for Turkey. Applebloom

Ah, yeah, North Korea. As usual, it declared war to South Korea in the first few weeks of the game. And as usual, it got its ass kicked in another few weeks.

The Korean Peninsula is now united under the banner of South Korea.

It's been a month since the end of the Persian War.

The Arab Union, still holding the line, is nonetheless taking the full brunt of the African-South-American offensive. As a consequence of this, the price of oil skyrocket on the world market, analysts worldwide predicting a long and destructive war.

Half of Europe is subjected to blackouts as the oil supply run out. Not even the numerous nuclear reactors of the continent are enough to keep pace with the magnitude of the shortgage, and being subjected to a shortgage of fissile material of their own, the prospect looks pretty grim for Europe's energetic situation.

In a desperate bid to ensure its energetic independence in the face of an urgent crisis, the European Commission finally accept to lift all the environmental restrictions it had put on oil and gas drilling, as well as on uranium mining. A vast campaign to open new oil wells and uranium mines is launched. With heavy subventions from the European Union, it is hoped that Europe's oil production will be 75% autonomous in the span of two years. The negative consequence of this is that this program will mobilize more than half of the European Union's industrial capabilities.

In the interim, the Arab Union, desperate to find money to fight its war, decide to sell all the oil it can to Europe, at three time the market price. Europe, not in a position to bargain, accept.

The Oil must Flow.

Eurasian Planes keep intruding in European airspace without authorization.

Some voices are starting to point out a solution to Europe's resource crisis...

The 30th of April 2014, after Panama declared war on Costa Rica, the South American Union declare war on Panama. There is no doubt in the international community that the South American Union is more than happy to jump on the occasion to annex the Panama Canal.

In Asia, Japan, benefiting from the supreme incompetency of the Chinese Navy, manage to land troops in the Union of South Asia, its Ally.

Leading assaults in the name of the Land of the Rising Sun, these units open the way for an invasion of China from the South.

Most of the heavy lifting being done by the South Asians...

The fools, they did it...

Not long after the Fall of Iran, the Eurasian Union decided to strike symbolicaly at the European Union, by sending troops to occupy the two bridges connecting Denmark to Sweden :

image_1 : the bridges after the start of the hostilities. Note the impressive concentration of troops on the Eurasian side.

With a whole division on each bridges, blocking the traffic going both ways, the show of force was clear on their side.

The bridges being officially in the international water, this wasn't, per se, a violation of the European territories.

However, their continuing violation of European airspace, was.

image_2 : this is where things have come to.

So it begins. And the first victims will soon fall.

image_3 : pictured here, one of said victims

The war is started, the battle await. Who knows where things will go ?

(note : that thing on the bridges is just a bug of the game I'm taking advantage of for narrative purposes. In reality my units could still transit through the bridge. Applebloom )

News from the Front :

Our valiant boys and girls are doing the Job !

After rolling over Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg and Minsk, the first hard nut to crack was Smolensk.

The troops were becoming tired, most of the equipment had been put under heavy strain, and the logistics left to be desired.

However, after a few weeks, the logistical situation had been resolved, the enemy troops in the surrounding countryside annihilated, and most important...

image_1 : the reinforcements were in.

The city of Smolensk taken, and seizing the occasion of a brief respite, High Command took the decision to send the troops back to the rear to rest and be repaired, the allies (mostly Turkey and the North American Union) holding the lines.

image_2 : A few weeks after, it was time again to go on the road...

image_3 : ... To Moscow !!!

image_1 : Our troops continued to Advance toward Moscow.

image_2 : The battle was fierce, and the American artillery was of a great help.

image_3 : until finally, the 27th of July 2014, for the first time since Napoleon invaded the country more than two centuries ago, Moscow fell to a foreign power. In the middle of Summer.

High Command was optimistic, the war seemed like it was going to be easier to win than they had expected.

But High Command had underestimated one thing...

Morale.

image_4 : the 28th of July 2014...

image_5 : ... The Eurasian Union ...

image_6 : ... After losing at least three fourth of its armed forces in less than six month...

image_7 : ... Surrendered without condition to the European Union.

The European Union weren't Nazies. They weren't even Fascists. For all that could be said about them, they were a Democracy. Some would have even said that they represented a better alternative to the corrupt establishment of the Eurasian Union.

One thing had become certain for a majority of Eurasian, though : There was no point in leading the country to more death, more destruction, just to continue the war.

The Eurasian Union now annexed to the European Union, one question burn everyone's mind :

What next ?

The resource situation may have been partially solved, but it has only been replaced by the need to rebuild several countries, and to bring up to European living standards a whole continent.

The only thing allowing the European Union to not crumble into bankruptcy is an imposition level so high that almost two thirds of all revenues are perceived by the State, and the spendings, them, have been cut to a minimum.

Now comes the hardest part : (re)building.
