I've ordered my copy now.
Turns out I still had some value in loyalty points tucked away so because of that I'm paying even less than I would've been.

So yeah, I'll be up and running some time around Saturday, I reckon.

Oh yeah. Got my copy working (AMERICA FUCK YEAH). I'm not sure how the region system works for multiplayer, but I've got a good sized city up and running right now, so at least I know sort of what I'm doing.

Whenever you guys get your copies, let me know.

Well, got an email saying that apparently my copy will be ready for delivery for the release date, so it should in theory be Friday I can join you.
If that really will be the day it arrives or not I can't say, but they estimate it should be at least.

They are allegedly "under maintenance" (read : "we're cheap fucks and underestimated the number of players who play in the first week")

I hate how game companies ALWAYS do this shit.

Why not over fucking order the amount of servers you're going to need for the first few weeks and then cut back on how many you have (if too many) after two weeks?
I know they say they do, but they're always finding out "oh shit, we need more!"

Well, how about you say what you think you'll need and then go OH WAIT, LETS ADD EVEN MORE JUST TO BE SURE.

It's even more unforgivable these days given that with the current Virtualization technologies they can just rent computing power & bandwidth from a datacenter and adjust what they consume in function of what they need.


And you know what's even more rage-inducing ?

The launcher telling me to wait in queue 20 minutes before being able to launch a game because the server I had selected was "saturated".

Generally, however many servers is needed is always around twice what the company thinks they need. Even after taking this into account.

That's why the smart thing to do is outsourcing the servers to a Datacenter with Dynamic Load Management.

Maybe I'll make an "invites only" world for like, 10 cities.

But I could use some input considering the server. Most NA servers are full (except NA East 1), so maybe we should go to a Western EU server? They're all available.
