I realize this is a little early, but the episode leaked this week so I'm sure at least a few of us saw it and need a place to discuss without risking spoilers to the other members.

I thought it was kinda meh overall. Spitfire's new voice irritated me, and RD's seemed a little off too for some reason.
Really awesome to see Cloud Chaser, Thunderlane, and Roid Rage again though. YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

I might be wrong but I think Lightning Dust may have been voiced by Trixie's VA.Nope.
While I agree with you on Spitfire's new VA I'm not sure about Dash.

Honestly if you were to click those spoilers you'd probably be disappointed they're only a sentence or two long and they don't get into any detail at all.

I thought it was a pretty good episode!

- I'd have to agree about Spitfire's voice though. Plus, it was a little disappointing that she was just a tough instructor stereotype. Also, she seemed a little too oblivious to what was going on until Rainbow Dash spelled it out for her. You'd think she would have enough experience to figure it out on her own.

- I think spitfire came off a little in experienced as well. The tornado thing LD pulled didn't look like it would be a new idea at all you'd think she would know the dangers of doing something like that. Especially since we've learned from 'Hurricane Fluttershy' and the episode with the parasprites (who's name evades me right now.) that tornadoes are difficult to control and maintain even for skilled fliers.

- Aside from Spitfire's new (sometimes weird) voice I think it was great.
A tad similar to "Griffon the Brush Off", but that's not a bad thing.
At least the RD Wonderbolt storyline has finally been adressed some more after 2.5 seasons.
Now just wait and see if anything comes out of it.

Okay the episode official aired and I watched it.
It's a Rainbow Dash episode about flying so we got to see a lot of Pegasus and apparently Roid Rage is younger than I thought to go join the Thunderbolt Academy.
I kind of wish the other students had pulled a blanket party or some other strike-back for what Rainbow Dash and Lightning Dust were doing. They could have done with shortening the events a touch more and moved to a montage to fit it in, but I wish we could have seen the Pegasus on their downtime in the Mess Hall and got RD some reaction from the other Pegasus.
After all half way through Thunder Dust went from "I'm the best!"

Mwahah this will fix those other flyers.
Not to say RD has not been just as bad but without another figure to make her realize how egotistical she's acting she quickly reverts to type normal. Not in this episode as she stands up to Spitfire just enough to be respectful but firm.
My favorite two parts of the episode have to be Rainbow Dash going into Spitfires office the first time (Even if they fucked that up) and Pinkie Pie going crazy the second time before they decided to head off.
OAN:When I said they messed up Rainbow Dash going to Spitfire the first time, one line extra would have made it so much better.
Spitfire:RD, Thunder Dust pushes her limits, she's lead pony because she's going to push herself. I need you as wing pony for two reasons, one so Thunder Dust has that chance to push herself and second... if you want to be a Thunderbolt your going to BE a wing pony. I'm lead pony of the Thunderbolts and if you can't fly wing for another pony you'll have no business joining my Thunderbolts. I know you can lead Rainbow Dash but can you follow? ....

I think I see a potential sadfic on the horizon:
Alternate Universe: Rainbow Dash fails to save her friends in time from the tornado that she helped create. She runs away/is arrested for being the cause of their deaths, and falls into a deep depression. Other stuff happens that I can't think of to move the plot along. (Magical resurrection artifact? Journey of self-discovery? Cellmates with Lightning Dust? Prison life? Bah, I dunno.)
Someone's gonna do it, but there's a 90% chance that it's gonna suck.
