Re: Alouette's Art
It looks good, I like it a lot. But you asked for criticism.
The lines seem a little rough and jagged (most noticeably on the outline of the eye). How are you drawing this, with what program?

Photoshop, using a bamboo tablet. Very rusty at this thing.
First I usually doodle on a separate layer, then use a second layer for very crude pen tool for the outline. Brush Stroke, then paint it in with brushes on a third layer. Advice on how to do better would be appreciated.

I'm not an artist, but I'd say using a finer line on details like the eyes/eyelashes. Also, the eyelashes extending past the eye throws me off.
Still, looks great.

Could you explain what about the eyelash is botherning you?
Also taking a look at this after a late-night working on this, I can definitely tell that the lighting is screwy. I mean, look at the mess of a tail. Needs to be consistent, Dunno how to do so.

Re: Alouette's Art
Might try putting her in white background next time. I can sorta see her gun there, maybe you wanted to hide it but it's really hard to give advice on things you can't see.
As for the tail being more consistent you mean with her mane? Well style wise they don't match really because her mane is obviously long and smoothe while her tail is short and jagged. Also you put a bunch more lines in the tail given it's length.
I think all those lines may be your problem there. It's hard to tell what's going on. It's just kinda jumbled up.

Re: Alouette's Art
The background was just a last minute throw-together for an avatar for the RP. Dunno why but she looks odd on a white bg. I can throw one up if you want when I get home.
Now as for the tail, I was intending to have it lenghtwise hidden somewhat behind her, with only visible part being the end. So instead of going straight left, it goes back, then down-left. For consistency, I was meaning the shadows and highlights. It doesn't seem to have a consistent light source.
For lines, do you think I should remove at least the interior lines? Those were more or less guidelines for where I should attempt shading and highlighting.

Re: Alouette's Art
On the eye, the eyelashes extend over her mane and past the end of her eye and seem to exist independent of the shading. Her eye also looks off because of how flat the top of the eye is.

Re: Alouette's Art
So at this point I have the following suggestions:
Fix the odd eye shape, as the bottom looks jagged and the top is too flat.
Eyelash should be under, not over her mane
Possible fix the tail lighting, then remove interior lines.
Still got nothing on shading. Might have to do some rough clay models and use my desk lamp.

Re: Alouette's Art
Honestly I think the shading is pretty solid, but then again I don't know a whole lot about shading.

Yea, sorry I don't have too much for the shading.

Working on redoing eye shape, and tail shading. I think I'm ok with the top hair and bow.

I'm pretty much done with her for now. Tail drawing sucks, as well as shading. Bow is still my favorite.
