Directed more at everybody then individuals. Just seemed to have been a sudden influx of spiders lately.
On a slightly related note, I was going through my pictures on my phone and found the one of the spider that was in my room. It was about as big as a half dollar coin, not including it's legs. Poor thing was trapped in a different spiders web.

Maybe it's because I'm not a 'hardcore' Resident Evil fan (Although I do consider myself a fan of the series), but I'm in the middle of playing RE6 and... It's not that bad. I actually think, other then some obvious mistakes, it's pretty good.
Well, ignoring the fact that the PC port is atrociously mapped.

As far as I know it could have been trapped in it's own web. While looking for that picture I found one I took of like the one time a dragonfly landed on me. I love dragonflies.
As for those pictures Last, I like the owls the best, but the gun that woman has in the last picture is a thing of beauty. No idea what animal she's standing in front of is suppose to be.
I'm more or less in the same boat as you Scyto on RE6. Personally I love RE5 because it was written for exactly just it was, like a B-movie that was given a huge budget.

Re: FALLOUT EQUESTRIA ROLEPLAY SEASON 3 ((OOC/Character Sheets))
I didn't like RE5, AI partners I don't think have a place in survival horror. I do sorta like Sheva but unfortunately I find her much more annoying then anything else.
A major part of that is a feeling that I have to protect her because I cannot trust her on her own. I know if I'm not tapping that damn B button constantly Sheva will get her head sawed off.
The easiest way to remedy this is by having someone take over Sheva, but then we come to the point where it's not scary anymore. I just don't like this departure Resident Evil has made from the Survival horror of the PS1/N64 games to the action games they are now.
That being said after playing Resident evil revelations I think they have started to take a step in the right direction. The AI partner while still being largely useless (I honestly don't think they are capable of doing damage.) does not hang around you as often and if they die (I don't think they can.) it's not a game over.
Edit: Forgot to mention there are some games for the gamecube and PS2 that are in the old style. Code Veronica X is available for download on the xbox live market place if you can deal with the cheesiest romance ever.

I will admit Sheva was a pain in the ass to deal with.
"I'm putting those mines down for a reason Sheva, STOP PICKING THEM UP!"
That said Chris was a much better AI partner. But that may be because I took away his pistol, because they will use that gun over nearly everything else, and because I switched him from "cover/stay close" to attack.
Professional mode proves how ineffective partners in general are though. If you're downed, they have a grand total of 3 seconds to revive you. And the only why they can do that is if they're right next to you and not dieing themselves. Only reason I beat it was I had the S&W 500 and was so damn good with it I could pull off head shots at sniper rifle distance.
RE6 was better because you're AI buddy doesn't require babysitting. That said they also might as well be non-existent except for one moment when I was playing.
I was playing as Chris and was locked in a room with an enemy that had a grab that was pretty much a 1 Hit Kill cause there was no way to break out of it. And when I say locked, I mean the game saved after the door closed and the enemy appeared.
After the fourth time I went "Damn it, I'm going to have to restart the whole damn chapter" when Piers, with the beautiful 50 cal. of his, shot the damn thing off of me. And yes, this was the AI that did it.

RER does that too in a way, but then I guess it's kind of the mindset having a partner puts you into.
In RER there are points where your partner essentially says they have shit to do and your on your own. Now if I'm grabbed while on my own I tend to think "Dammit I fucked up." but if my partner is standing right next to me while the monster is sucking my fluids out I can't help but think "Excuse me? anytime you'd like to shoot this bastard off of me would be fantastic."
Also restarting the chapter isn't so bad. I remember moments when I had to restart the game from the beginning in the old games.
I guess that leads me back to my point about the games being action games these days.
Old resident Evil:
-Hold onto these grenade launcher rounds and these herbs because your going to need them for a big bastard later.
New resident evil:
-Don't worry about it we'll give you more then enough ammo to take down this boss and all his buddies no problem.
Also I know people like to be able to move and shoot but not being able to added to the tension. Anyone remember the old opening to L4D? The one where Louis says "Run or shoot?"
I liked back when that was a choice, you had to use your own judgement to decide when it was safe to attack. Seeing this flipping stuff in RE6 is a bit disheartening if I'm honest.

I think THAT's the problem that prevents people from enjoying modern games as much.
Nostalgia.

Well at least they went with a more realistic version of the "run and gun" thing. Granted the "throwing yourself backwards to the ground" thing is way out there for me as well. I rarely used it if at all.
Well, rarely as far as Leon goes.
But I get what you're saying man, but it's just the way it goes. Honestly Resident Evil is barely Survival Horror anymore. I'm hesitant to call is Action Horror. All in all though, you can't have any kind of horror game with the same characters over and over. As soon as you bring a character from an earlier book/game/film, it stops being as scary.
Because as soon as an established character shows up it's all "Well, they've been through this before, they know what's going to happen. At worst they die after trying to tell the new people what to do."

@Scyto
You know, you wrote off all my complaints as nostalgia. Which is kinda insulting actually.
I loved RE4 when it came out. It was drastically different from the previous games and yet I loved it.
I like RER and that is a recent game too as a matter of fact there is an option to move and shoot in the game (I decided to leave it off because I think that not being able to do that builds tension.)
You really don't see a game that throws bullets and health items at you as an action game? Especially when it allows you to roll around like some sort of action hero?

I can agree with that. I think I said something similar when it came to Dead Space 3.

Re: FALLOUT EQUESTRIA ROLEPLAY SEASON 3 ((OOC/Character Sheets))
I didn't say it wasn't an action game. I still consider it horror because of the horror setting and style, whether it's 'scary' or not. I think the inability to move and shoot is silly. Reoccurring characters doesn't take away from it at all, quite the opposite actually.
As for writing off your complaints as Nostalgia...
Sounds like Nostalgia to me. You're judging the games based on how they used to be, rather then how they are.

To be fair, I'm probably all wrong. I thought the Battlefield 3 Campaign was good until about an hour after I finished it and had time to think about it.

You pointed out two points I made. What about when I was judging RE5 for it's bad partner AI taking away a large portion of the enjoyment because it turned the game into a baby sitting simulator? That's suddenly an invalid complaint because I drew a comparison to the earlier games?
I said one of the reasons I didn't like the new games was because they departed from their survival horror roots and I stand by that, but that doesn't mean these games don't have their faults.

Maybe, I wouldn't know. I went into it thinking it was survival horror so I never wanted to bring a friend along.
It's very difficult to get immersed when there's someone talking into your ear.

Yup pretty much.
- RE5 rant for those of you who aren't tired of seeing it:
- On that note I have been replaying RE5 recently. And while I was playing the Gigante boss I picked up on something I hadn't noticed before. This boss is set up a lot like an arcade shooter.
When the boss does certain attacks you shoot him in different areas to stop him. Which is fine I guess. What isn't fine is they start introducing reaction commands into it, It's confusing initially because the whole time they're teaching you "Shoot here to stop this."
Also the fight itself was a bit overstimulating. However this is probably a personal issue. What I mean by overstimulating is that there was so much going on onscreen that I often missed the button prompt.

That's because she is missing a leg.

Picked up and finished Gears of War: Judgement, plus Aftermath, last night. Very enjoyable, I liked the 'Declassify' feature, broke the monotony that sometimes plagued GoW 3.
Love the Markza, I haven't seen anyone else using it in multiplayer, though.

I found a fun turn based strategy, I'd link the trailer but unfortunately the trailer shows very little gameplay and focuses on "Look what characters we have." very few of which I recognize.
