I was hopping to see a training montage.

Also, was it just me, or did the Alicorn Amulet have similar effects to the Ice King's Crown from Adventure time? You know, massive power and ever increasing crazy.

My morning has conspired against me to watch the episode but I finally saw it.
I love the fact that Twilight pulled a fast one and Big Mac got painted up as Applejack.

All in all a great episode, also special sneaking outfit Fluttershy.

If you look at "Old Applejack", you can see her eyes are orange instead of green.
I didn't notice it the first time because of how fast it passed.

I dislike the use of 'alicorn' in canon. Never liked the word, but oh well, this episode is one of my favorites, I think. There was Zecora in it, most of the cast was utilized, (Twilight, did you ever think of, y'know, CONTACTING LUNA?) it was a great one.

I too wonder what kind of power Zecora commands, how it is focused, how it was obtained, and how it relates to unicorn magic. Apparently, it's quite compatible with unicorns. I think it should be noted that while Twilight was taught by Celestia, Zecora, I think, is at least a little bit older than Twilight, probably around 1.3 times her age by my guess, whatever that may be. Just a guess, and it doesn't quite justify her apparent knowledge. Perhaps she has knowledge which cannot be learned through books, or that which has not been documented in books.

As for the kind of magic Zecora command, at a guess I'd say that she may be good with illusion/suggestion (remember the Nigthmare Night episode in S2 and her lightshow ?).

As for the trick she made with the tea goblet, I guess if zebras don't have horns, their innate magic can be expressed in other ways ?

Well, in short, that was the best damn episode of this season so far and one of the best in general.

I think that since AJ merely switched places with Granny Smith it's quite possible for her (Granny) to have her normal eyes if they used some sort of contact lenses (they're not really comfy or healthy, and in her age...). If they used magic to change the eye-color it could be a simple animator mishap, but since she has orange eyes in all three scenes she appeared in I think it wasn't accidental. So it probably was something they couldn't have used on her due to her age or whatever.

Formis, what he mean is that Applejack has green eyes, and that Granny Smith has orange eyes.

This mean that seeing old!Applejack, resembling Granny Smith in her oldness, with orange eyes, should have been a clue to the viewer that it was indeed Granny Smith disguising as old!Applejack.

I highly doubt that that was just some "regular" store. From the look of some of the objects in there, it looked like one of those shady, dark alley, Oriental artifacts Shop that specialize in "Less than Legal" Mystic Objects.

Also, do we have a picture of the shop's owner? I'm pretty sure he's a reference to something.

He was probably hoping someone would make a bargain like Trixie did. The whole, "this is too dangerous" bit was probably to con a buyer into having a opening price way worth than it was actually worth that way even with haggling he would still get a ton of money. I'm surprised Trixie didn't try and haggle for a cheaper price.

Also with how much money it did cost Trixie I'm surprised she didn't ask for it back to sell back to the dealer.

...I don't think the bits were real. Trixie had been out of work since the incident and she'd never really seemed all that wealthy to begin with.

Or she stole them which is why she didn't want to return them for her money back.

Hey working mines is profitable work, it's just boring, backbreaking and dangerous. Rock farming is probably the first two.
Alternatively she robbed Pinkies parents. I prefer to think it was just life savings after all her primary source of income dried up after what Sparkle did to her.
