((Yup, it definitely gave away her insecurity (and I'm pretty sure AB did the same exact thing in her first episode). So yeah, AB should have been able to pick it up, but I think the three of them were just too excited that they might be getting another member to even notice that Babs had problems with it.))

((This is also true, but I still feel like AJ should have at least tried to get her to talk with Applebloom. It was no secret that Diamond and Silver made fun of the CMC (they kinda did it right in front of AJ and Twi in the episode when they meet each other the first time). But then again, Babs probably made AJ promise not to tell anyone because of her insecurity about it.

((And I didn't see her as shallow. She was already sad and nervous when she got off the train, so she was obviously worried that she was going to be bullied again right off the bat. Even with other blank flanks showing them their lack of a cutiemark, she was ashamed of it and tried to hide it, even though she looked slightly excited, it seems to have become second nature to hide it.
She got upset when Diamond and Silver mentioned her blank flank, and actually got angry for a second over it. When the two assholes mentioned her joining the CMC, she turned sides because it was obvious that the other fillies were the target of bullying by Diamond and Silver, so she went to their side in hopes of avoiding getting bullied (probably thought it would work because they did mention her being from Manehatten was a bonus for her). Surprise it worked, because those two bitches seem to be friendly with anyone who takes their side. When it worked once, why not keep it up and avoid being picked on? She's young, so of course she didn't consider how her cousin and her friends would feel since she was safe.
After everything, she was obviously regretful, and felt horrible for everything she did to the point that she wanted to start their friendship over and avoid doing all the bullying. She even stood up to the other bullies, and told them off, rather than submitting in shame like she had been the entire time. It would seem that seeing the CMC not being ashamed of their blank flanks rubbed off on her, and she's finally learned she can stand up for herself rather than turn to tormenting others and making them feel like she did when she was bullied.
