Started off kinda slow, not sure if I'm reading too much into it but it looks like the writers are hinting at the Apple family parent situation Faust mentioned. And no that wasn't AJ's fault. Well the fridge thing was, with all the safety preps she made you'd think she'd leave a step ladder in the kitchen.

Picks up a bit later when Apple bloom wanders into the "Be prepared" set. I think this new villian is Last bait by the way. If these too routes are equally dangerous I wonder what big mac ran into.

Also looks like ponies are at least slightly colorblind

Someone should make a fic about what Mac ran into. That sounds like a good idea.

This is the type of episode that I get unbelievably hyped about and then get my unrealistic expectations crushed by the unexeptionality of it.

I saw an Applejack episode, and being one of the two people who believe AJ is best pony, there was much rejoicing.

Then the episode is just okay, and I get sad.

This happened with Apple Family Reunion and The Last Roundup as well. I refuse to believe AJ is an uninteresting character. I will die believing she has great potential.

And that is why I aim low; that way, if it turns out 'meh' I am not disappointed,  and if it's good, I can legitimately enjoy it

I have a hypothesis about why Applejack episodes never are as good as, for example, Pinkie episodes.

Episodes like Pinkie Pride are fantastic because Pinkie isn't completely satisfied with her life. She wants to break more laws and get more addictions.

AJ, on the other hand, has everything she wants. She just wants to live on her farm for the rest of her life, and then die. Yeah she's stubborn, but there have been episodes made for that.

My favourite AJ episode is actually Pinkie Apple Pie. I think it gives an interesting look at the Apples, and adds some backstory for Pinkie and AJ.

I think that an episode where she loses her hat and goes looking for it would be interesting. Maybe include a flashback to tell us where the damn thing came from. I saw a comic that said she got it from her dad as a prize in an apple-bobbing competition, but that's headcanon.

Just make best pony interesting, please.
