Hopefully they'll fix it like you said, but the problem is that the people it's banning it's removing their channel and videos all together.  The people that it's banning aren't going to ban land, they're getting everything deleted and their account.  Hypothetically let's say seananners gets hit, it's not a ban in the traditional sense so much as the entire channel and videos gets dumped from the system.  So even if he would get his channel back all of his videos would be dumped and permanently gone.

Obviously they're going to fix it, but the problem is that anyone that gets hit and have their account taken down ALL of their videos and everything is going to be deleted permanently.

The people having their channels removed may come back, but all their videos are going to be gone.

Actually it looks like I was wrong. Totalbiscuit put out a video (I didn't watch the entirety of the thing but I wanted to mention this before I forget.) According to him those protected by networks are now split into two groups.

Group A: Managed partners. These are essentially the networks star players. The ones they are still willing to accept liability for.

Group B: Affiliates. The channels they are no longer willing to accept responisbility for.

The reason why a network would put it's members down as affiliates (The ones liable to this wave of copyright claims.) is because if these guys break the rules and they are accepting responsibility for them they could lose the network. 

So in short I was wrong... Kinda. The well known guys are going to be managed partners and the wave of copyright claims sweeping through youtube does not effect them.

As for punishment. Up to the point I've watched (Totalbiscuit has so far proven to me that he researches his stuff. So I'm trusting him here. Just keep in mind I could be wrong I've only got him as a source.) it seems to range from account bans to video removals to transfering monetization from the channel to the copyright holder.

For my part, the anarchist in me hopes that this will drive LPers to the dark side of the 'net, and they'll start providing links to cracked copies of the games alongside their LPs. I know it won't happen, of course. Regression to the good old days of unregulated internet, when companies still thought it was a passing fad, is impossible, and the anonymous and free web is on its way out. Governments are even cracking down on the darknets, supported by the media's willingness to say that only criminals - real criminals, like pedophiles and the mafia - use things like Tor. I think it's a losing battle, to be honest. I'm not super up to date on all this stuff, but when I do read stories on it, that's what I'm hearing on the wind.

On the bright side, I saw the second Hobbit movie and I really enjoyed it. There were some silly things and some shenanigans (a wild pseudo-romantic subplot appeared! Audience used groan! It's not very effective...) but there were also a lot of awesome things. Smaug, for instance. Totally nailed it for me with him.

You're close, but it's actually the governments and companies on the losing side of the battle.  What I mean by that is imagine it's like 300, even though that was actually real and those spartans really did kill a million persian soldiers the spartans still lost.  It's why you're seeing bullshit like this new youtube system, CISPA, SOPA and such.  They're trying to nuke it from orbit hoping to make a dent.

I have to agree here.  As much as I think that some things are utter bullshit, like how society pressures people to go under the knife just to make themselves feel good about how they look and how sex ed never teaches people that pornography isn't a representation of real life thus dooming countless people to develop porn creep(the technical term is pornography addiction, which is classified by the DSM as a mental illness of not being able to understand the difference between porn and real life sex thus making said individuals unable to continue real life sexual relations), trying to get rid of fetishes is impossible.  The best society can do is include teaching the difference between real life and porn in sex ed classes, cause the fact that there are people who don't understand the different between fiction and reality isn't "ermagod sexism", rather it's a mental illness problem.

Someone having a fetish for large breasts and watching porn with guys having large penises isn't of itself anything wrong; rather the problem is that sex ed classes do not teach enough about sexuality and mainly focus on the biological aspects of sex thus resulting in people never really fully understanding human sexuality.  When I was a teen the sex ed book we had in sex ed only had one chapter on human sexuality and we skipped it completely.  To us what we have learned as adults about human sexuality may seem like common sense, but to someone that has never learned it they won't know anything about it.

There is nothing wrong with human sexuality and there is nothing wrong with sex or porn and most fetishes; I can agree with katt on some points, BUT the problem when you break it down to it's basic level is that countries with healthy sex lives versus countries like the usa, etc is that countries with healthy sex lives understand what is real sex wise and have been actually taught the difference between fiction and reality whereas countries like the usa their sex education are extremely crappy thus resulting in the problem was talking about.

The fundamental problem with katt wanting to get rid of the porn norms is that it's treating the symptoms and not the illness.  The underlying problem can be improved though just by better teaching individuals that porn isn't like sex in real life, cause the fact that the DSM classifies porn addiction as a mental illness means that isn't being hammered in enough.  To you, me and everyone here that seems like common sense, but to people with the mental illness they don't understand why real life sex isn't like sex in porn.


Tl:dr; The problem katt is talking about is listed by the DSM as pornography addiction.  There's nothing wrong with people having fetishes or liking sex so long as they understand most real life women don't have G cup breasts and that most guys don't have 14 inch penises; rather the problem is that "porn isn't real life" isn't being hammered into our society hard enough thus resulting in people who were never taught this.  What katt hopes to do is essentially treating the symptoms and not the illness.  It's like if you screamed at someone with tourette's syndrome every time they had a tic thinking it will magically cure the person.


You know what's sad is Tomska just covered more about sex in six minutes more than a lot of sex ed classes. That's. . just sad.
