I've started hitting up Smooth Tongue for failing to even move in a threatening manor during combat.  Only enemies he even attempts to engage will be counted going forward.  He's not even providing emotional support most combats now, nor comic relief.

Good or bad, it would be entertaining haha. Always find it amusing when you try to subdue someone with nonlethal force only to get a crit in which no matter what the damage would kill them.

Imagine Flashpoint said he was trying to take that pyrotechnic alive and got that crit.

Failing to take a slaver alive or even indicating he was going to try to take one alive was the reason he missed out on his roleplay xp.
Also been way busy at work, by that I mean my head hurts and my boss was sitting behind me all day inventory stuff so... yeah little got done, but I will go home and write in about twenty minutes.

Now all I can picture is Obs' saying he's gonna try to shoot the unicorns horn off, only to crit and ,at best, scalping the pony and blowing the entire upper part of his head at worst.

critical success can mean you get what you want and more, it supposed to give you your objective critically... wouldn't a critical failure end up doing something like blowing the head off?

Flashpoint uses battle saddle mounted shotguns, the shotguns do a base damage of 50 each not including modifiers and crits double that damage. Without modifiers that's 200 damage base (DT of target aside). In the end it would be up to Adder what happened, if Flashpoint had decided to try to take the pony alive and got that crit, but I'd have Backdraft roll medical checks to prevent the poor bastard from going into shock.

But that's better than crits from laser(magic) and plasma weapons that do enough damage to kill. It's easy to BS how somebody survive getting shot with buckshot at close range by saying only a limb got blown off, Magic and plasma weapons tend to only leave ash or goo when they land a critical killing blow.

Plasma Shotguns on a battle saddle. Also, I think Aiming for a specific part would play significance into how much damage you do. I.E. Alouette sniping a pony's ear and critting I wouldn't think would kill the pony unless it was already bleeding to death.

I gladly hand the reigns of Backdraft back to Rum. It is WAY easier to just sit there and laugh at what happens than actually being in the middle of things.

I kept him alive, I did my best to keep him in character, saving two party members when they got downed, and taking pot shots, one or two of them crits and no crit failures.

Quick thank you to Kip for the amazing taunt of Smooth Tongue, and Moody for RP'ing Backdraft, and going all doctor over Akapesh and Smooth Tongue to keep them out of death. Would've had to do an agility roll to hop over there had he not done so.

I was told two, well actually three but never mind that, thing to remember while playing Backdraft.
1. He is in fact a medically trained pony with an actual doctorate in medicine.
2. He is pretty much a do-gooder, as compounded by the fact he has the Good Nature Trait.

Smooth Tongue was in trouble, Backdraft moved to help since by now he knows Flashpoint and Draz can take care of themselves for the most part combat wise. When Smooth went down, there was no option but to get him to (relative) safety and stabilized. Not wanting to leave the downed Unicorn he stayed up on the roof and provided aerial support.

When Akapesh went down, there was no option but to get him out of there as well. The sweet mid air catch of the magic infused bandages was a bonus. My only regret was not using them sooner on Akapesh, but the sniper got that shot off and ,weighing the options, getting Draz up there to attack was the best option at the time since I didn't believe I could make the kill shot on her. Also while Akapesh and Smooth were helpless, I'm pretty sure actively healing them with her watching would make them a prime target.

With that said, for all the ups and downs, and downs and downs, everybody, especially Aonee, thank Adder for not deciding to have the last Shotgun pony perform a Coup de Grâce on Akapesh, cause he had the zebra dead to rights there.


As mentioned before, Backdraft has 1 more thing of Dash, and minus one bandaged since it was used to stabilized Smooth Tongue to prevent him from dieing. He's not getting better but he's not getting worse for the moment.


I know I could have done better, I should have done better, and if I ever have to do this again, hopefully I will do better.
