Brohoof are?

From what I've gathered, the brohoof thing is a reputation system thingy. I've never been on a fourm that uses one yet, till now. could someone explain how they work?

On the right of your message (Next to your Profile picture) there are 2 signs. A + sign and a - sign. You click the + to give someone a brohoof and - for the opposite.
